Two quotes, slightly rephrased and merged together. Lily Pulitzer, the Palm Beach designer and socialite whose tropical colored resort wear became a statue symbol of preppy culture was quoted as saying:
With her vibrant floral prints ( and other whimsical patterns ) , Pulitzer was a favorite for decades. From Jackie Kennedy to Suri Cruise, Lily Pulitzer brought Worth Avenue to the world. "I designed collections around whatever struck my fancy...fruits, vegetables, politics or peacocks" she said of her style in a 2009 interview. "It was a total change of life for me but it made people happy."
Audrey Hepburn was only 63 years old when she died of Cancer in 1993 but packed more living into her time on earth than most people could do in a century. She was the designer Givenchy 's muse, retired from acting to do relief work for UNICEF and people still show up at Tiffany's with bags of pastries thanks to Hepburn's iconic performance in Breakfast At Tiffany's which is where this 'lipstick' quote comes from.
These two fun quotes are truly what this look is about. I found my dress and shoes at Thredup. The dress is Cynthia Rowley and shoes are Zara. I choose them, along with the bag from a local auction and hat from Burlington Coat Factory simply because I felt they were cheerful additions for my wardrobe. The stockings are the very same I wrote all about in my last blog post The Essence of Femininity which you can find here. I love them so much and they make me so happy and feel so pretty I want to wear them all the time. This will not be the last time you see me in the Holy Matrimony/Emmy stockings and of also more from Leg Appeal. See the entire collection here.
I am wearing a special kind of lipstick that is actually available at the same place and from the same lovely ladies I wrote about here. They, the "Wrightstuffchics" are offering 15% off right now with the code: lipsense ! Lipsense is the official name of this special lipstick and there is a lot that is unique and also very sensible about it. I like the fact I was able to apply it at 5:00am and it was still on at 5:00pm. I love how glossy it looks and feels and love the fact it did not rub off on my teacup or on my kid's faces. I did read all instructions carefully and made sure I exfoliated my lips fully before applying the color and gloss. I am wearing Apple Cider.

Find the set here. It includes something called an 'Opps Remover." I haven't had to use that yet. I have heard that lipsense can be stubborn to remove if you apply it outside the lipline or even at night when you remove your makeup. I did not have this problem at all. I just used my regular makeup remover which my mom introduced me to when she gave it to me as a table gift last Christmas, Chanel Precision Eye Makeup Remover. I use this on my whole face, not just my eye makeup and the lipsense came off easily. I will keep you up to date on my experience with Lipsense and I am hoping to try other colors. It makes perfect "sense" to me to invest in more lipsense because on the days I wore it it was one less thing to think about and of course the less you have to apply something the longer it will last.
My necklace is from Name Necklace Official and I found out about them on Instagram and you can find them here. They made a wide variety of personalized jewelry at affordable prices. I wore three of them together with my outfit here.
Sometimes you just don't think about what's in fashion or what the trends are and you just choose things that make you happy. Wait a minute, that's all the time for me. Do you ever chose things just because they make you happy or do you have more precise rules and standards for how you dress and present yourself to the world? I'd love to hear from you!
Thank you so much for your time and attention. I hope you found this post enjoyable and worthwhile.
I truly appreciate all feedback and I'd love to connect so please feel free to leave me a comment or even a link if you have something to share.
Yours truly,
Jennifer
